Ferguson Dental Care Re-opening: What to Expect

Ferguson Dental Care Re-opening: What to Expect

Dr. Paul Ferguson shares the news that his dental practice has re-opened, and describes recent changes introduced to cope with the effects of Covid-19.

I am happy to announce that Ferguson Dental Care is once again open for all types of dental procedures. The team and I have missed visiting with our patients, and welcoming new patients to our office, so this is a happy day for us. Although there have been necessary recent changes at our office to cope with the effects of Covid-19, our team is eager to maintain our warm and friendly culture.

Dr. Ferguson in front of officeInfection control and safety have always been a priority at Ferguson Dental Care. We have always practiced “universal precautions,” which ensure that infection cannot be passed from one person to another in our office. Additonally, we have always met or exceeded the safety recommendations of the American Dental Association (ADA), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and Occupational Safety and Health Adminstration (OSHA).

But Covid-19 has brought us new challenges. To ensure a heightened level of safety for patients and our team, and to ensure that everyone who enters our office feels confident while they are here, we have recently introduced procedural changes and safety additions.

Procedural Changes

  • All visitors to the office are required to wear masks / face coverings.
  • We are now offering a touch-free sign-in experience:
    • Forms that used to be filled out in the office will now be completed online. You will receive an email from us to begin the process. The forms are easy to fill out online. (We will safely accommodate anyone who would prefer to complete paper forms.)
    • Patients are asked to call us when they arrive and remain in the car, or outside, until the doctor or hygienist is ready for you. When you enter, you’ll go directly to an operatory.
  • We ask you to come to your visit alone, but we will accommodate parents accompanying young children or adults who require assistance.
  • All patients and visitors will be screened for Covid-19. Your temperature will be taken, you’ll be screened for symptoms, and you’ll be asked to sanitize your hands.
  • Once seated, patients will be asked to pre-rinse with hydrogen peroxide before treatment begins.
  • If you’ve arranged payment before your visit by providing insurance information or a credit card, you can leave the office directly when your treatment is complete.

Safety Additions

  • Our team will be wearing additional Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), which includes N95 masks, gowns, and face shields.
  • We are performing additional cleaning of all surfaces and additional room disinfection.
  • Extra time has been added between appointments to reduce potential encounters between patients coming and going.
  • We have upgraded our HVAC to include enhanced air purification for the entire building.
  • Our entire staff was tested for Covid-19 before our office reopened.
