Best Wishes to Dr. Hoyt-Rehm
When I took over the dental practice of Dr. Alfred Thompson in 1999, one of the many blessings that came my way was an association with Dr. Dorothy Hoyt-Rehm. She had deep roots in the Fair Haven community: she was raised in our town, her father practiced orthodontics here, and her uncle was a local oral surgeon.
Dr. Hoyt-Rehm started her dental career doing dental hygiene and research, so when she got her dental degree and began practicing, she was miles ahead of her contemporaries. She and Dr. Thompson worked together for almost 15 years before his retirement; she and I have worked side-by-side for 21 years now.
While Dr. Hoyt-Rehm’s professional accomplishments are many, her greatest accomplishments have probably occurred outside of our office. She and her husband Rich have raised two beautiful children, Carolyn and Douglas. She and Rich share an amazing partnership that includes Rich’s nursery business in Colts Neck, making a lovely home that reflects their shared love of family and nature, traveling together, and working together to overcome adversity whenever it appeared in their lives. I look forward to watching them take on this next phase of their lives.
Dr. Hoyt-Rehm’s dedication to her profession and her patients is unrivaled; those of you who have had the good fortune to experience her care know what I’m talking about. She’s also a genuinely nice person and good friend. We wish her nothing but the best in her retirement. She deserves nothing but the best. I hope she feels, as I do, that she has served her patients and our community in a special way throughout her career.
Dr. Hoyt-Rehm’s regular presence at the practice will be sorely missed by her patients, the team here at Ferguson Dental Care, and by me. The rest of the team (Karen, Laurie, Edy, Leesa, and Joanne) and I will be here to continue to fulfill your dental needs. We will strive to maintain the level of excellence Dr. Hoyt-Rehm established, and live up to the standard of kindness and care that she embodies.
